LE PETIT CULBUTO

Le PETIT CULBUTO, an iconic piece of furniture

My focus is harmony. I create a state of sensory pleasure, sensual pleasure; I am not seeking a provocative effect.” Marc Held

The CULBUTO marked a radical break with traditional furniture.

Born from the visionary spirit of Marc Held and the possibilities offered by the new materials of the time, the armchair is distinguished by its enveloping fiberglass shell and its unique rounded base. This allows not only a gentle rocking motion, but also a fluid and natural swiveling capability—a remarkable innovation for its time.
This dual movement, both playful and intuitive, contributes to a unique seating experience, blending freedom of movement and dynamic comfort.
The armchair thus embodies optimism, modernity and the search for new forms of informal comfort, characteristic of the 60s and 70s.

Its bold design, both sculptural and ergonomic, has made it a universally recognized centerpiece in the history of design.

Exceptional pieces in very limited quantities with variations:

While the original CULBUTO toys, designed in the 60s and 70s, explored the potential of modernity through fiberglass, the only material then capable of conforming to their bold curves, these new pieces return to a material dear to Marc Held: wood.

Long reserved for simpler forms due to the technical constraints of the time, wood had not been able to give birth to a TUMBLER.

Today, thanks to modern tools, we can finally bring this piece of wood to life.
